A camera that transmits photos over a network or the Internet. Also known as a webcam or an IP camera.

UPnP devices play well (are interoperable) with computers, networks, and other devices. UPnP is an abbreviation for Universal Plug and Play.

This indicates whether the device is connected to your network (online or offline).

An online computer or device is turned on and connected to the network. For the Net2Go Web site, online means it is accessible on the Web.

An offline computer or device can be turned off or disconnected from the network. For the Net2Go Web site, offline means it is not accessible on the Web.

This is the device's manufacturer, and additional information about it.

Network Magic gets these details from the device.

This is the device's IP address and subnet mask.

A number that identifies a computer or device connected to a network or to the Internet (for example, 192.168.0.1). IP is an abbreviation for Internet Protocol.

A type of IP address that splits networks into smaller groups (for example, 255.255.0.0).

This is the device's MAC address.

A unique number assigned by a manufacturer to a device (for example, a network adapter) to identify it. MAC is an abbreviation for media access control.

Tip Use the manufacturer's Web address as an easy way to get the following:

· Updates (for example, the latest versions of a driver or firmware)

· Troubleshooting information for the device

Software that lets a computer run hardware or a device (for example, to use a printer, you need the right printer driver).

The software that runs a router or device.

This is a telephone number for the device manufacturer's technical support.

Use this number if there is a problem you cannot resolve (for example, using the product documentation, or References and support).
